The current year summer match schedule for Golden Spike Buffalo Range is listed below. The ViMSAR and ViMBAR matches are combined into one two-day match which runs over an entire weekend, with the Bolt Action match held on Saturday and the Semi-Auto match on Sunday. The ViMBAR Sniper, USAR, and F-Class matches are each a one-day match. Matches will begin promptly at 0900. Sight-in period will be from first light to 0830. Ribbons will be awarded for the top three competitors in the match aggregate. Depending on the match, additional prizes may be drawn. The range will be open on Friday prior to each match.
The course of fire for the fixed target match will be 40 shots for score, 5 shots each at 200 (offhand), 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 yards, and 10 shots at 300yds (rapid-fire, kneeling or sitting in 1.5 min).

The walkabout match will consist of an unlimited number of shots in a limited amount of time (35-55sec) at various targets at unknown distances. The shooter will be required to carry all equipment on a short (less than 1 mile) hike, and engage targets at specific firing points.
On Saturday we will have the 1,000 yard iron sight and scope sight match after the main match. The airplane shoot (R/C airplanes) will be included in your entry fee, and you can use any firearm you like (except shotguns). Tracers will be allowed for the airplane shoot in May only as long as it is not too dry.
SNIPER MATCH: The course of fire will be 60 shots for score. Shooting will take place from three different shooting locations on the range. Targets will be of a known size, but will be at unknown distances.
USAR MATCH: The course of fire will be approximately 80-90 shots for score. We recommend bringing at least 120 rounds to the match. Shooting will take place from different shooting locations on the range. Each firing location will have several targets to engage within a fixed time limit. Targets will be of a known size, but will be at unknown distances. The targets will be comprised of various sizes of steel circles, squares, rectangles, and partial man silhouettes.
We would like to encourage shooters to bring your ATVs to ride from shooting point to shooting point.
Course of fire – We will shoot two matches, each consisting of 40 shots. Ten shots for record at 600, 700, 800, and 1000 yards. An Aggregate for the 80 shots will determine the match winners, and awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Shooting will be conducted in the same fashion as our Long Range Buffalo Match. Each shooter will fire one shot per turn in line order. Two sighting shots will precede shots for record. All shooting will be from the prone position as per the NRA rules.
Targets – The 600 - 800 yard targets are a 30″ diameter steel disc with a 6″ center swinger. The 1,000 yard target is a 48″ diameter steel disc with a 10″ center swinger.
